Did God Really Say?
From today’s reading…
Now, the snake was the most subtle of all the wild animals that Yahweh God had made. It asked the woman, ‘Did God really say you were not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?’” Genesis 3:1
I can’t believe it was over five years ago when Jordan Peterson skewered a reporter on her own show. Do a search for “Jordan Peterson so what you’re saying,” and the first result is a YouTube video of the interview.
Now there’s even a Wikipedia article about it, which points out that the reporter, Cathy Newman, uttered “So you’re saying” 35 times in 29 minutes.
And if memory serves me correctly, she was incorrect all 35 times.
The only way someone can be that wrong is to either be ignorant or malicious with a splash of manipulation. (Seems like she got some pointers from the serpent in the garden from the opening of Genesis, but I digress…or do I?)
It’s a classic gambit fraudsters use to goad their mark into saying or doing something they’ll regret.
Most of us can’t help but speak up and correct a lie the fraudster throws out like an innocent hand grenade.
We don’t realize that’s their goal.
They want to rile us up and trip us up.
The reason this works is found in Newton’s First Law of Motion, which states that a body at rest will remain at rest unless an outside force acts on it.
Salespeople and fraudsters—unfortunately, far too often, they are one in the same—can’t have their marks ambivalent and sitting on the sidelines.
The fraudsters are fine if you attack them (verbally) because they can apply their verbal Jiu-Jitsu skills against you to get the result they seek, be that information, a statement that can embarrass you or be used against you for blackmail, or even a physical altercation, which can create all sorts of issues for you moving forward.
Haters’ gonna hate.
The serpent, i.e., the devil, does this to Eve, and you see how that worked out for us.
Ignore the tricks.
Don’t take the bait.
It’s the only way to…
Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
Market like you mean it. Now go sell something.
