His Words Are Sweeter Than Honey

From today’s reading…

The fear of Yahweh is pure, lasting for ever; the judgements of Yahweh are true, upright, every one, more desirable than gold, even than the finest gold; his words are sweeter than honey, that drips from the comb.” Psalm 19:9-10

Fear can be crippling.

It can also be life-saving. In the same way there can be “good” stress, there is “good” fear, which includes fear of God. However, fear of God does not mean you behave yourself so He doesn’t cause you to die of cancer or cut your hand off with a chainsaw.

No.

Fear of God means fearing doing something so stupid and vain that we cut ourselves off from Him for eternity.

Loving parents slap their children’s hands away as they reach for the hot stove and give them a stern warning never to do that again.

That is not “limiting,” or “patriarchal,” or “domineering.”

It’s love.

It’s wisdom.

It’s freeing because going through life with a burned, maimed hand/arm/face/body is hard.

God is on your side.

Fear losing His companionship, His guidance, His protection, which is the only way to…

Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
