How To Zig To AI’s Zag

Skynet is here.

Terminators are on their way.

The AI terminators will put fast food servers, attorneys, accountants, copywriters, middle managers, overseas VAs, and you out of business, just like the horseless carriage put saddle makers out of business, video killed the radio star, the internet killed musicians, and social media killed the yellow pages.

Heck, now that I think about it,…

  • the printing press put monks out of business,

  • the steam engine put men with pick axes out of business,

  • the railroad put the Pony Express out of business,

  • the airlines put the shipping industry out of business, and

  • penicillin put leech farmers out of business.

So let’s go back to, what, the early 1400s to make sure we maintain the status quo?

Maybe the 1300s?

Here’s the deal…

The only constant is change.

But there is nothing new under the sun.

What goes around, comes around.

Ya gotta zig when they zag.

Ya gotta buy when there’s blood in the streets, even if it’s your blood.

So while your friends, enemies, crazy uncle, and obnoxious neighbor who likes to walk around the neighborhood with his shirt off, despite having the body of a third-string kicker on the freshman football team, are ranting and raving about AI and launching masterclasses and masterminds and mentorships on how to leverage it, might I suggest you spend a little more time getting better in person?

How’s that for a zig while they’re zagging?

Now don’t get me wrong.

I have chatbots on my site, I have OpenAi literally open on my browser 24/7, and I’ve embraced one-to-many sales and marketing automation since at least 2006, so I’m not saying you should ignore what is coming.

But I am saying you should not fear it.

I am also saying AI will make what is “old,” i.e., meeting in person, “new” again.

Why?

Because nobody likes to be sold, but we all love to buy.

Because nobody likes being treated like a number.

Because everyone loves the sound of their name.

Because everyone loves to be part of something exclusive.

Because everyone loves to have unique experiences.

And no T-800 or T-1000 from 2029 will ever create that experience in the hearts, minds, and souls of your customers.

So do all you can now to be better in person.

Because as the deep fakes proliferate, more of your prospects and customers will want to see you live and even in person, to ensure you’re not just some shape-shifting snake oil salesperson wrapped in binary filters.
