In those days, Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine,
and being a priest of God Most High,
he blessed Abram with these words:…”
Way back in Genesis we see a king who is also a high priest offering sacrifices and celebrations of bread and wine.
In 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 we see Paul reminding the Corinthians of how the ultimate King and High Priest offered bread and wine at the Last Supper.
And in Luke 9:11-17 we see the story of Jesus feeding 5,000 men from just five loaves and two fish.
The importance of breaking bread with one another.
The importance of partaking fully.
The importance of receiving fully.
The importance of engaging fully.
The importance of giving fully.
The importance of our leaders being grounded in faith.
The importance of a faith rooted in millennia of exploration, expansion, and explanation.
