Pearls of Wisdom For Growth

Here are a few pearls of wisdom I have run across in the last few decades that have helped me grow.

  • Simple is worth more than complex. (Hit Send. Launch!)

  • Embrace complexity (behind the scenes) to create a business model that is tough to steal.

  • Just so you don’t think I’m crazy starting with two opposing ideas? “The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth.”? Niels Bohr

  • Life’s too short for follow-up calls.

  • There shall be sequential, multi-media, multi-step follow-up. (Emails, direct mail, voice broadcasts, SMS, Fax broadcasts.)

  • You can’t train your way out of a bad hire.

  • “Work/Life Balance” is a myth. Weave life into your business and business into your life so you are not a robot.

  • Your #1 job as a business owner is to market your business.

  • Your #1 goal of marketing is to build a big, qualified list.

  • Your #1 job as a sales manager is to recruit.

  • Your #1 job as a sales person is to prospect.

  • “Motivation, like bathing, doesn’t last. That’s why I recommend it daily.”~Zig Ziglar

  • Focus more time on creating additional business with existing clients vs. endlessly chasing new clients.

  • Good ideas aren’t enough. You must implement to monetize, which requires product/service creation, marketing and sales.

  • Exponential growth does not come from doing the same things faster or better. It requires a new idea and approach to an old dilemma, which may call for outside help to achieve.

  • Things never go “as planned.” (Employees will quit and so will clients.)

  • Minds and parachutes are designed to work when open.

  • Seek to live with and create passion. A passing interest or curiosity is not enough for you to grow or to gain and retain clients.
