The Sudden Wrath Flames Forth
From today’s reading…
Say not: ‘I have sinned, yet what has befallen me?’
for the Most High bides his time.
Of forgiveness be not overconfident,
adding sin upon sin.”
Today I was rolling with a smooth purple belt at my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training. Squire Refern is an MMA fighter and a smooth operator on the grappling mats.
He’s literally like an octopus the way he relaxes and sneaks his hands and feet around you to secure a position that will make you tap out.
At one point during our six-minute session he was especially calm as I thought I was getting into a better position.
But he was too calm…so I literally stopped and asked “What in the world are you up to?”
Then he showed me and BAM! I was on my back.
After 25 months of training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu I know I know nearly nothing, but I am beginning to recognize that just because something bad isn’t happening to me at one moment it doesn’t mean the victory is mine.
No. I must be ever vigilant for the entire six-minute session or bad things can happen to me in the blink of an eye.
So it is with your life. Your soul.
You know when you’re skating on thin ice. Walking too far out on the limb. Playing with fire.
Just because it may feel good now and you’ve gotten away with it before, doesn’t mean you should continue doing what you know is wrong, because remembering that…
For suddenly his wrath flames forth;
at the time of vengeance you will be destroyed.”
Is the only way to…
Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
