The Wicked Are Blown Away Like Chaff
From today’s reading…
How different the wicked, how different! Just like chaff blown around by the wind…For Yahweh watches over the path of the upright, but the path of the wicked is doomed.” Psalm 1:4, 6
There’s a definite theme in the readings for today to choose to do the right thing.
Deuteronomy 30:15 tells us straight up to choose between “life and prosperity, death and disaster” while in Luke 9 Jesus reminds us that He is destined to be rejected and killed…and that we should follow in His footsteps! (He’s definitely going with the Marine-style of “The few. The proud.” type of recruiting vs. the fake and phone prosperity gospel mumbo-jumbo the mega-church preachers with nice teeth, nicer hair, and still nicer suits Tweet to us from their Gulfstream G700 jets, but I digress.)
And today’s Psalm reading ties the two together nicely, which is often the case in how our Catholic leaders have been inspired and led to structure our daily study of the Bible.
So the choice is obvious—and it gets easier as you get stronger. Follow in God’s ways, take up your cross, walk the guarded path of the upright, which is the only way to…
Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
Now go sell something.
