Love Twitter / LinkedIn Tools
On Monday, November 9, 2009, Twitter and LinkedIn announced a partnership / integration that allowed you to pull your tweets into your LinkedIn status or push your LinkedIn status updates out to your Twitter account. Biz Stone, Twitter co-founder, called it “bringing the peanut butter and the chocolate together to make the perfect combination.”
Hate
On June 29th, 2012, Twitter took their chocolate out of LinkedIn’s peanut butter and one of the great LinkedIn tools stopped working. You could no longer pull in your Twitter streams into your LinkedIn profile.
The result? You simply initiate your content on LinkedIn and use the Twitter checkbox to push your LinkedIn update to Twitter. Or use a program like HootSuite to not only send your updates to multiple profiles simultaneously, but you can also schedule them to go out at certain times.
News, Good News, Bad News
If you’ve been reading this site for any length of time you’ll remember my post on how to “Synch your Facebook Fan Page with Twitter, HootSuite and Ping.fm.”
(That was years ago. Ping.fm is now Seesmic and I haven’t used either in nearly two years. But in 2007 to 2009, Ping.fm was the bomb! I guess they didn’t keep up with the times. Make sure this doesn’t happen to you!)
With a little bit of pre-planning and some free / low-cost online tools you could have been—and should be—updating your Statuses (or is it “Statusi?” The red dots are under statusi so it must be statuses.) with aggregators such as HootSuite and SproutSocial.
You can also use the social share icons on your own posts and pages and share directly from there.
Finally, for just $4.97 per year you can use my WordPress plugin, “LinkedIn Fast Send,” to post to every single LinkedIn Group you belong to simultaneously. (Shhh. This is one of my secrets for appearing to be everywhere!)
