Understanding Web Analytics and The Infusionsoft Lead Generation Tracking Goodness

lead-nurturing-best-practices.jpg

Since the dawn of the internet – certainly the dawn of high speed internet – website owners now have the ability to KNOW WITH CERTAINTY how their marketing efforts are doing.

There are a plethora of free and/or inexpensive tools for tracking such as:

  • Google Analytics

  • AWStats

  • Piwick

  • Woopra

  • Link Detective (to analyze your competitors)

  • Crazy Egg

All of these give you the insight you need to

Infusionsoft can track site visits down to the individual so even if your prospect visits your site from their computer and smart phone it will show 2 page views but only one contact.

Infusionsoft analytics definitions:

  • Visitors – site traffic that we can’t tie to a specific contact, yet.

  • Contacts – we know who they are but don’t have any orders/subscriptions tied to their contact record.

  • Customers – we know who they are and they have an order/subscription tied to their contact record.

How does Infusionsoft link a visitor to a Contact?

  • When a Contact clicks a link in an email.

  • Fill out a web form.

  • Place an order via Order Form or Shopping Cart.

In other words, Infusionsoft is not a mind reader or Big Brother. The Contact must do something to be tracked.

CRM > Visitors

See their Operating System, Pages Viewed, when they viewed the pages, the Web Forms they filled out, etc.

You’ll see unique traffic data that shows you how Visitors, Contacts and Customers have different browsing patterns. When you see pages with a lot of Unique Visitors but few Unique Contacts or Unique Customers you can add a new Lead Magnet…

When you see a lot of Unique Contacts but not so many Unique Customers you can make special offers on those pages…

When you see a lot of Unique Customers you can add affiliate information or referral fees to entice them to spread the word.
