Rapport is a noun and means:

Relation; connection, especially harmonious or sympathetic relation

It’s similar to bonding, yet different.

You can have a bonding moment but when you have rapport it’s deeper. Notice how it incorporates a “sympathetic relation,” which is different than having empathy.

Empathy means you can relate to someone’s situation without being in their situation.

When you have sympathy for or with someone, you are in it together. 

When your customer feels, thinks, sees, knows that you are rolling up your sleeves and are putting your back into it with them to help them succeed, you’ll have a client for life.

If you don’t have lifelong clients ask yourself how effective you’ve been at establishing rapport with them.
