About 100 years later, the phrase “panem et circenses” or “bread and circuses” entered the cultural and political lexicon of the world.
About 1675 years later, Alexander Fraser Tytler (1747-1813), a Scottish advocate, judge, writer, and historian at the University of Edinburgh, said, “A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.”

Now go sell something.
